HAMZA AL-MUSTAPHA |
Information reaching us some hours ago is
that, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the "dangerous" ex-Chief Security
Officer, CSO, to the late military dictator, Gen Sani Abacha, has been set free
by an Appeal Court in Lagos.
Al-Mustapha had been convicted and sentenced to death on a four-count-court charge bordering on conspiracy and the assassination of late Mrs. Kudirat Abiola, wife of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola, who was shot in Lagos on June 4, 1996.
The court overturned the conviction of the Lagos high court, which sentenced him and his co-accused, Lateef Shofolahan, to death by hanging. The presiding judge accused the lower court of being “stroked to secure a conviction by all means.”

Sources told Curiotainment updates that the court's
decision has been sending shock-waves across Nigeria, but for Al-Mustapha and
his supporters, it is celebration time.
